The boys have tapped into Katherine’s love of cakes to raise a mighty amount for Wayne Stubbs.
Elliott Green, 8, Taitt Green, 10, and Lenny Hankinson, 11, spent the better part of their day yesterday at their makeshift lemonade and cupcake stand, taking large donations from the public.
The idea to raise money for Mr Stubbs, a firefighter of more than 12 years who was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer in November of last year, came to Taitt Green a little while ago.
“We are Christians you see. And I was lying in bed and a voice speaking to me said I should donate $50 to Wayne Stubbs,” the 10-year-old said.
“I ignored it at first because I didn’t know it was real, but when I went to mum she said it was a great idea.
“At first we wanted to make $50, but then we doubled it, and then doubled that.

“We hit more than $1000 in one day, yesterday,” he said.
Elliott and Taitt Green, who are part of the St John Ambulance cadets, said they have known Mr Stubbs for the majority of their lives.
Their dads work together and they go to school with his son.
“When he walks up to me he always has a big smile and he’ll pull out my ears, like my dad, and say ‘hello mini Greeny’,” Taitt Green said.
“We went to visit him a lot at the fire station and he would always let us sit in the fire truck.
“When the firefighter cadets start up we are definitely going to join,” he said.
The boys made almost 100 cupcakes and more than 50 litres of lemonade for the fundraiser, which sold out quickly.
“Yesterday our first customer was Ms Annie from St John Ambulance and then Fay Miller came for her morning tea.
“We even had one person pull over and hand us $200,” Taitt Green said.
While school starts up for the boys tomorrow they plan to continue their fundraising efforts on the weekend.
The cupcake fundraising effort has not been a stand alone event in supporting Wayne Stubbs.
The annual Katherine Club Australia Day charity breakfast was this year held in support of the much loved community hero.
