Emergency services were called to a quad bike accident in Katherine today.
According to a St John Ambulance spokeswoman, triple zero call takers received a plea for help at around 12.15 this afternoon.
Paramedics rushed to the scene, finding a 30-year-old man suffering head injuries after he crashed his quad bike.
According to the spokeswoman, “the man had come off the quad bike he was riding and fell down the embankment of the Katherine River.”
“He sustained lacerations to his head,” she said.
The young man was taken to Katherine Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
It is unknown if the man was riding on private property or a public place.
In 2017, Northern Territory police said they were receiving questions from the public about where you can and can’t ride quad bikes.
Police said the basic answer was that any motor vehicle driven in any public space has to be registered.
