An opponent of fracking for onshore gas was walking towards an otherwise peaceful rally outside the Parliament House when she yelled profanities at the driver of a car leaving the car park.
“Vote Liberal,” the car’s driver said repeatedly in response.

Both of the NT’s major parties now support the development of an onshore gas industry.
Mining companies are planning to drill deep to intercept shale rock layers, firstly in the Beetaloo basin, and use a process known as fracking to release the gas.
About 100 people attended the rally outside Parliament.
Long time opponent Daniel Tapp of Big River Station was the opening speaker of the rally.
Several carloads of residents from Katherine had traveled to Darwin for the rally.
