On the back of the soon-to-be released film Top End Wedding, Tourism NT and the Nine network are giving away a wedding in the Top End worth $55,000.
And marriage celebrants Nola Sweetman and Mayor Fay Miller agree Katherine is the best place to tie the knot.
"The whole of the Katherine region is an outdoor region, with our beautiful trees, our gorges and our rivers, you are never sure what you will see," Katherine Mayor Fay Miller said.
"Where else is there to get married?" she said.
The Win a Wedding competition was launched on the TODAY Show on Monday and runs until March 19.
The lucky couple's prize will include a wedding planner, makeup and hair for the bride’s big day, wedding transport for up to six, full wedding ceremony and reception for up to 22 people, wedding celebrant, photographer, venue hire, catering, flowers, music, wedding cake and bus transfers to and from the wedding for up to 22 people.
Working with Tourism NT to make sure the big day goes off without a hitch, wedding planner Belinda Nolan said she is "absolutely honoured" to be a part of the winning couple's dream wedding.
“We can highlight our expertise and provide our couples and their guests with a truly amazing and memorable event," she said.
“Gorgeous white sandy beaches with stunning sunsets, tropical-filled garden oases, jaw-dropping gorges and waterfalls, the magical beauty of both desert and bush.
“The Northern Territory is more than just the outback.
“It’s a unique destination, a winter escape for those down south and a chance to plan your dream wedding and celebrate under the stars of the northern skies."
The winning wedding is expected to take place on May 6, 2019, following the Australian release of Top End Wedding on May 2.
“The film Top End Wedding has already delivered a local economic contribution of $1.526 million using 180 local suppliers and vendors, and creating 190 local jobs," Tourism NT deputy chief executive Andrew Hopper said.
“To leverage the film’s success and lead-in to its Australian release in May, Tourism NT is partnering with l Nine with the Win a Wedding competition.
“The competition will further showcase the Territory’s vast stunning landscapes and diverse tourism offerings, some of which featured in the film.
“The Win a Wedding lucky couple will be married in the NT on May 6, following the Australian release of Top End Wedding on 2 May.
“Screening around Australia and the world, Top End Wedding will share the best of the Territory to a global audience of millions of potential travellers and destination wedding seekers, who will be inspired to come and do the NT.”
