Coaches are actively planning for the upcoming season, for the first time the new club will be united with jerseys and brand new LED lights are being installed this week.
New president Steve Hoffman, who was passed the reins in November last year, said he is "attacking" the club early to ensure improvements are in place before the beginning of the season, which starts at the end of April.
"We successfully received a $110,000 grant to install the latest and greatest in lighting equipment. It is never cool here and this gives us more opportunity to spend more time riding," Mr Hoffman said.
The new lights will bring the Katherine BMX club up to the standard of NT clubs, which have all long had lights allowing for night riding.
"At training sessions last year you'd be warming up and then you would have about an hour of training and 15 minutes of free riding and then it would be wrapped up. It was getting dark by then," Mr Hoffman said.
"But now the oportunities are endless, we have an open book seven days a week to ride."
Track preparation is underway for the upcoming season and a second grant of $10,000 has allowed the club to purchase new timing equipment and new kitchen equipment for the canteen.
Mr Hoffman said he hopes the quick succession of improvements to the club will entice new riders this year.
His son Charlie rides in the club and while he has little experience on a bike, he was keen to get involved to build the club to its fullest potential.
"I saw his passion for [BMX] last year and I wanted to help make a difference," he said.
"I want to attack BMX from the start of the year so we can get the word out that we are here as there are a lot of people that don't know we are open.
"We already have a united group of people and these improvements will increase our status on the BMX front in the NT and encourage more riders to come to events."
The BMX club is having a Come and Try day on April 6 and 7 from 9am to 1pm.
