Directed by Grant Thompson, Lil Bois is the first short film in the traditional language of Ngandi.
Mr Thompson is a Ngandi man of the Wurlngarri clan.
Since taking on a role at the Ngukurr Language Centre four years ago, he has learnt Ngandi, an endangered language.
He teaches Ngandi at the local school and is working on creating a print and online Ngandi Dictionary for community use. He also works on other languages, including Marra, Ritharrngu, Wägilak and Wubuy.
Grant seeks to incorporate his language work into film and video projects. He received an Excellence in Community TV Award in 2015.
Presented by Katherine Film Society, Flickerfest is bringing its national tour back to Katherine Cinemas on Thursday, March 21.
Screening starts at 7pm and tickets cost $18 or $15 con/ Katherine Film Society members.
The program of short films features 'Lil Bois' which was filmed around Katherine.
"After swimming with his friends in a billabong, a nervous little boy returns to his camp and discovers everything has changed. His family is missing. With his friends, he heads out into the wilderness to find them."
Other highlights of the Katherine program include Aussie comedian Paul McDermott’s Ghostbear, an animated film straight from Paul's heart, Ghostbear tackles the disappearing animals of our planet and tells the story of a polar bear cub wandering the arctic in search of his place in the world, and his birthplace in the stars.
Gracie Otto’s Desert Dash tells a fantasy story on the outskirts of Australia where Opals are now the currency for survival in the game of Desert Dash.
Aussie favourite Jack Thompson stars in Home, Peter Gurbriel’s intense drama that tells the story of two men, tormented by the news that they bear, who watch over a family whose lives are about to change forever.
