Initially, from Katherine, where he played for the Katherine Camels in the local BRFL before captaining the Big River Hawks in the Under 18 Boys NTFL division, Carroll transitioned into senior footy in season 2016/17 when he moved to Darwin.

He received Rising Star nominations in both the 2016/17 and 2017/18 season and quickly become a regular and reliable feature of the Waratah outfit, having now accumulated 50 senior men's games for the club that has a long-standing association with his family.

A favourite of the TV commentators for his ability to win the ball and use it cleanly, Carroll had premiership-winning ex-St Mary's coach, Ricky Nolan singing his praises as the standout youngster in the local competition.

NT Thunder Manager Andrew Hodges agreed and said Carroll was one of the most promising players in Darwin over the past few seasons.

"Securing young NT talent was a priority for our list build this season and to sign Brodie, a local Katherine junior product who has been a standout youngster over the past couple of NTFL seasons is pleasing.

"He has built up good experience playing senior-grade club footy and comes into the Thunder program with a solid foundation. It will be interesting to see him develop further at NEAFL level and see just how far he can take his footy," he said.

Darren Reeves, NT Thunder Head Coach echoed the same sentiments and added that he would play Carroll in a similar position to what he has played at Waratah.

"We're excited to add another talented young player to our 2019 squad.

"Brodie put together a really consistent season at NTFL level; he has outstanding work rate and a great ability to win the ball in and around the contest and also out in space. We look forward to having him in the program and adding value to the team," Reeves said.

Carroll said he looked forward to pulling on the NT footy jumper.

"I am really excited to play at the NEAFL level and represent the Northern Territory. I look forward to working with new coaches and staff to better my footy," he said.
