The NT Government has just released a tender to fix the Lindsay Street-Stuart Highway intersection near the Visitor Information Centre.
Residents have long complained about the busy intersection which allows U-turns where Katherine Terrace becomes the Stuart Highway
Tender drawings show the median strip will be extended and widened to make it safer for pedestrians and the Give Way sign at Lindsay Street will be replaced with a Stop sign.
The intersection won $511,000 in black spot funding earlier in the year.
The controversial U-turn sign would also be removed.
Motorists will only be allowed to turn left from Railway Terrace with a traffic island built on the existing right turning lane.
Bus parking would also be moved.
