With a fresh new committee bringing life to the weekly event, market coordinator Nicki Asling is expecting it to be bigger and better than years before.
While there were concerns at the beginning of the year the market would not go ahead, Ms Asling said the bumps have been smoothed out and the committee is determined to get it off the ground.
"We have some really passionate new members, and we have seasonal hire confirmed with Katherine Town Council," Ms Asling said.
"At the moment we have 45 stalls and we are filling quickly.
"The positivity in the committee is really energetic and we are focused on letting bygones be bygones to make it a successful community event for residents and visitors."
Tourists have come to know about our fantastic market, and if it hadn't gone ahead it would have absolutely given the impression of a town closing down and suffering from remoteness and issues.
Along with food stalls, music, coffee and smoothies, Ms Asling said market-goers can expect crafts, plants, books, homemade clothes and information stations Parks and Wildlife rangers and NT Emergency Service personnel.
She also confirmed stalls would be open to hosting travellers and grey nomads on a casual basis.
"We really want to create a connected community and encourage all forms of creativity and locally made produce," Ms Asling said.
"Not only does this enhance the experience for residents of Katherine, but also those passing through.
"It would have been rather disappointing if we didn't have the market this year."
The committee is also intending on bringing back the night markets, although start dates are yet to be set.
"In these economic times people need an extra income and an outlet for their craft or hobby," Ms Asling said.
"The market is a beautiful promotion of the Katherine community and it is very important to have somewhere to enjoy the fruits of labour from our community."
The Katherine Community Market will be held weekly on Saturdays from 8am to 1pm.
