While the sky hasn't fallen in, the anti-frackers haven't dropped their guard either.
Nor have great multitudes of ordinary mum and dad voters switched sides, despite the disastrous state of the NT's finances, and their own personal stake in the Territory's future.
Most folk, at least in Katherine and we believe elsewhere as well, still value a clean, green Territory over an industry no-one in this country really yet understands. The yellow triangles are still very much in evidence.
The simple reason is that not much has happened in the past year, not from the outside looking in.
Nothing has been fracked.
We may see a few little tests this dry season, but really full-blown fracking - this squirting of water and chemicals deep underground to "stimulate" the gas from the ancient shale, it could still be years off.
So to the outside world. nothing much has happened but in reality it has been, the stage is being set.
Public servants are turning the 100 or so recommendations from the Pepper inquiry - the blueprint on how to regulate an onshore gas industry - into regulation and law.
People worry that we're not up to the task, that as well remains to be seen.
The anti-frackers are still meeting.
Some of then plan a protest in Alice Springs on Tuesday to mark the anniversary - no way have they admitted defeat.
The gas companies remain keen as ever.
The Beetaloo is their target.

Depending on which day of the week it is and which way the wind is blowing, it is either 200 years supply of natural gas for Australia or 400 years.
Another figure we are still no closer to proving or otherwise is how many jobs this industry is supposed to generate.
Not a lot so far, but there are still plenty of folk about, not least the government, who say it will be plenty.
So happy first anniversary of fracking, or not, this government, and the gas companies, are looking forward to blowing a few more candles for this cake to mature.
As for the rest, they remain anxious, as we wait and see.
