But we do know Wednesday and Thursday are named after gods.
Nobody complains when a Christian wakes up in the morning on a Wednesday or Thursday without recognising Woden or Thor.
I've always liked Thor - I collected comic books as a boy. But I never worshipped him.
I like Thursdays - they're like the end of my week because Friday is my day off.
So I often celebrate Thursday. But I don't celebrate Thor in doing so.
Next Friday most of the Christian church celebrate that Jesus as God's Son freely absorbed God's judgment as a swap for us.
Next Sunday we celebrate that Jesus came back alive - the problem of physical death is solved.
In old German Jesus is called 'osterlamm', in old English 'esterlambe' - literally, the passover lamb who suffered so we don't have to.
Call next weekend whatever you like, I'm calling it the loving gift of God.
St Paul's Anglican Church meets on Sundays at 9am with kids church. All welcome.
