The Top End is packed with "snappable" spots ripe for Instagram, and the government wants in.
Earlier in the year a photo of the magical turquoise waters of the Mataranka Thermal Pools was liked 8300 times by Instagrammers around the world.
Posted on @AusOutbackNT, the image was captured by local Darwin photographer Mel Brautigam (@savvy_Social), and was sure to draw some holiday envy.
Budding Territory photographers are being offered the chance to learn from some of the best in the business through Tourism NT's new Snap the NT competition.
The Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture deputy CEO Andrew Hopper said he hopes the competition will inspire Territorians to take more images and videos while they are out and about exploring the NT, and share them on social media.

"The Territory is a rich canvas for photographers, offering plenty of stunning landscapes, unique people and fantastic wildlife," he said.
"By uploading this content using #NTaustralia and @AusOutback they are helping to spread the word domestically and internationally about what a fantastic holiday destination the NT is, and what a wide variety of offerings we have for all holiday makers."
Winners of the competition will take part in a photography workshop run by a group of well-known travel photographers and influencers from interstate and overseas.
"Participants will learn how to build their social media following and work with Tourism NT to spread the word - and images - about the Territory," a NT Tourism spokeswoman said.
Photographer Henry Brydon said he is excited to be collaborating with Tourism NT on the upcoming Snap the NT project.
"It is our second time creating content in this iconic region and it's shaping up to be even bigger than before!
"The ability for travel influencers to give back to the people that live in the places they explore is really exciting."
The photography competition opens on April 18 and will close on May 7.
