And speaking of pools, 'clothes' fit only for the poolside are worn by Europeans as they stock up on bottled water.
It's an interesting week when Easter and Anzac day mingle. Not least for the run of public holidays. Questions of freedom should surface. Speech? Expression? Assembly? Religion? Questions of rights - to take up arms, or to stretch out arms and give up life - each for the sake of others.
But dare we mention the war? And which one? Do we speak out about a perceived wrong (housing subsidies, anyone)? Or do we speak and be perceived wrong (Wallabies?).
Race, culture, sexuality, climate, health, education, and on and on.
A whole host of differences divide us. Yet speak of difference and see what happens.
Easter-influenced like Pilate perhaps we shrug 'What is truth?' and choose whatever is expedient. Or Anxac-inspired we force the issue with verbal (and financial) bullets and sometimes real ones.
Prick us, though, and we all of us bleed. And there's the rub. When we share so much in common, surely we can disagree better!
