Most weather forecasters say rain is unlikely for Katherine although the Bureau of Meteorology has lifted its chance of rain on Friday and Saturday.
Not strong to begin with, the unseasonal system is predicted to fast move north once it arrives in Queensland today.
The system has been slowly approaching far north Queensland and should cross the coast somewhere around Lockhart River.
Even Darwin's hopes for rain from Ann appear to have fallen flat as well.
While there is a lot of lawn sprinklers in evidence around the town, water restrictions permitting, the latest weather interest is on the cool starts to the day.
Most minimum temperatures this week are in the range of 14-15 degrees, with the Katherine long-term average 17.5 degrees.
