If they make it, they have a once in a lifetime chance to play in front of thousands of eyes as the curtain raiser for the Parramatta Eels versus Canberra Raiders on June 29.
With two games down already, despite losses, community partnerships executive Josh Phillips thinks the U16 players have a chance.
"The competition is going really well," he said.
"All of the players have come in on good spirits, they have obviously kept up their training and are excited about the chance to play at the grand final.
"It is about giving these kids a genuine experience, where not a lot will get the opportunity to play as the curtain raiser for an NRL game, for some it will be the opportunity of a lifetime."

Played over five weeks, the after school competition involves four schools: Katherine High, Taminmin College, Palmerston College and MacKillop Catholic College.
Last week, Taminmin College, a comprehensive rural school, travelled the almost 300 kilometre distance to Katherine to test out their skills.
At half time, Katherine was leading 10 - 8, but couldn't keep up the winning streak and lost 32 - 10.
This week the boys took on Palmerston College at the Goodline Park, in Palmerston, scoring 14 against the winning 36.
"Katherine can still win," Phillips said, "next week's game in Katherine on Thursday could find them in the preliminary games."
"Their attack is good and you can see they have been training, they just need to work on their one-on-one tackles."
The deciding game will be played prior to the NRL Parramatta Eels v Canberra Raiders game in Darwin at TIO stadium on June 29.
