Anthony Smith joined the Katherine St John volunteers in March 2002, and since has had a dream of sitting in the top position.
As CEO-for-a-day he signed thank-you letters for two long-standing volunteers alongside Her Honour the Administrator of the Northern Territory the Honourable Vicki O'Halloran, and presented gifts and awards to two Safe-a-Life Award recipients at last week's St John Investiture.
"On Wednesday last week we had the opportunity to reward Anthony for his achievements and efforts by promoting him to honorary CEO-for-a-day," St John NT CEO Judith Barker said.
"Our St John volunteers are pillars of the community.
"They provide more than 40,000 hours of volunteer services to 900 events across the Northern Territory every year.
"Anthony Smith has been a volunteer with St John for 17 years. Since he joined the Katherine St John volunteers in March 2002 he has attended countless community events across the Katherine region, and he has given an incredible amount of his time volunteering for his community."
The young volunteer was also awarded his volunteer service medal.
"It has been Anthony's dream for a long time to be CEO of the charity organisation he devotes so much of his life to," Ms Barker said.
"We are very proud of Anthony's achievements and we are glad he is a member of the St John family."
