Combining an original musical score with puppetry, physical theatre and animation, The Package reminds audiences "no matter how old they are, the theatre - and life itself - is full of magic".
"The Package is a visually striking performance that melds clever lighting with puppetry," Elizabeth Rogers, the performing arts manger of Artback NT, said.
"The original musical score that accompanies the performance aptly matches the quirky, sometimes surreal and moving moments in the play."
Produced by Alice Springs ensemble, Packed Theatre, the show is devised for adults, while resonating with audiences of all ages, Ms Rogers said.
"The Package artfully reminds theatre goers of the elderly and the strength of their stories and experiences," she said.
"Artback NT is delighted to be able to tour this work from Alice Springs though the Northern Territory, presenting audiences with an opportunity to experience the art of story telling through these delightful theatrical devices.
"Language can be powerful, even if it can't be heard," Ms Rogers said.
IN THE NEWS:
Using the 'language' of puppetry, physical theatre, animation and music, Packed Theatre tells stories without any spoken words, taking their audiences on meaningful journeys that often resonate with memory and the passage of time.
First performed at Alice Desert Festival in 2014, the production's original mastermind and performer Katelnd Griffin said the tour has enabled the show to build on the success while refining the narrative.
"Audiences are treated as equals, as children and adults have a precious opportunity to engage with the big questions of life, death, love and loss through the poetry of theatre," she said.
Students from Katherine South Primary School, Clyde Fenton Primary School and Katherine High School will have the opportunity to see the show first at a special matinee presentation.
The general public are invited to attend the evening performance on Friday, June, 21 at 7.30pm at the Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre.
