Someone told me this morning: "nowhere is safe". But it should be.

What do we do when death is closer to home? I pray.
Father God, I'm angry and sad for Darwin.
Lives you love were taken by violence.
But then I remember that we too mistreat lives you love.
Now people are scared and looking for justice.
Now people are sad and looking for answers.
Now people are angry and looking for targets.
Come Father God and heal us.
Your son Jesus knows death - the malicious and the unexpected.
He knows the grief of being left behind.
Jesus has faced death and evil - he absorbed our blame and shame.
Because you raised him alive we know you care about justice and mercy,
And death is not the end anymore.
Help us to know your love for us in our sadness.
Help us to know your forgiveness of us in our evil.
Help us to know your hope available in Jesus.
Give us your peace in our fear and confusion.
We long for justice to be done right - come Lord Jesus.
