A big flock of cockatoos is putting added stress on the Katherine sportsgrounds each day.
The noisy birds are also perching on the sportsground lights and appear to be chewing at fixtures.
The flock regularly moves from the main oval to the second oval, which is already showing signs of wear.
A bore needs to be replaced and watering has been a problem through lower pressure.
The birds droppings and feathers are also coating rails and seats in the sportsgrounds.
Katherine Town Council has recently obtained a $5 million grant to upgrade the sportsgrounds, including the oval and replacing the Don Dale Pavilion.
