More details are emerging over a bad accident which occurred at Wombungi Station, an isolated property between Katherine and Timber Creek, about 10.15am yesterday.
The man was rushed to Royal Darwin Hospital after a rescue mission which involved flying him by private helicopter to the Tindal RAAF Base civilian airport, and then linking with a CareFlight fixed wing plane.
NT Police say they conducting enquiries into the incident at Wombungi Station.
A 77-year-old male is believed to have been struck in the head by the tail rotor of a helicopter whilst it was undergoing a maintenance procedure.
The man is today in a critical condition in Royal Darwin Hospital.
Investigations are continuing.
