Peter Bravos, 52, faces four counts of rape over allegations relating to two women more than a decade ago.

He was released on bail with a $1000 surety today after a two-day committal hearing in the Darwin Local Court.

The 52-year-old is facing four charges of sexual intercourse without consent, involving two alleged victims.

The alleged incidents date back a decade ago.

Last year former NT police commissioner John McRoberts was sentenced to prison after being found guilty of attempting to pervert the course of justice in a travel agent fraud investigation, where he was having a sexual relationship with the main suspect.

He was sentenced to three years in prison to be suspended after 12 months but was eligible for release after six months.
