The leading judge will be joined by his wife Lynn Roycroft, Carla Walsh and Karen Ruzsicska, as riders from as far as Kununurra and Alice Springs saddle up for the long-standing competition.
Receiving a Member in the General Division of the Order of Australia for service to equestrian sports, as an administrator, coach and competitor, Mr Roycroft will be setting the bar high.
"Equestrian is an incredible sport to watch," Katherine ring master, Kym Henderson said.
"It is a partnership between an animal of about 700 kilograms and a tiny human and when they connect it is just magic.
"Whether competitors are testing their power and speed in showjumping or accuracy in dressage, it is spectacular."
The addition of judging legend Barry Roycroft will make for an exciting five days as riders will be competing to the highest of standard, Ms Henderson said.
"The exciting thing about equestrian is all ages and sexes compete on a level playing field," Ms Henderson said.
"You have 10-year-olds holding their own against adults - it is all about the partnership with your horse."

This year however, there will be more opportunity for younger riders to showcase their talents in the inaugural pony club classes.
"The open classes get competitive," Ms Henderson said.
"The competition will specifically test skills learnt in pony club, as well as ensuring they have a broad equestrian knowledge.
"The intention for next year is to hold a full pony club ring separate to open classes to showcase the younger generation coming up through the ranks."
With a packed schedule of classes run on dedicated volunteers, spectators can expect to see fierce competition as riders showcase their elegance, strength and partnership, Ms Henderson said.
All equestrian classes are now pre-nomination only.
Show jumping and dressage classes close on June 30, with all others closing July 10.
