Based on L. Frank Baum's 1900 book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and the 1939 musical film starring Judy Garland, audiences can expect to be taken down the yellow brick road with the classic songs from the movie like 'Over The Rainbow,' and 'We're Off To See The Wizard.'
Rehearsing since the beginning of the year, actress, Aleeah Bawi, playing Dorothy, said the lead up has been both challenging and rewarding.
"We are so proud of ourselves and we cannot wait to perform for everyone," she said.
The whole school production, involving all classes from pre-school to year six, has provided some of the students an opportunity to flex their acting skills on stage.
"We are looking forward to performing in front of a live audience," Charli McWhirter, playing the Wizard of Oz, said.
To fund the musical, the students have been rallying for weeks selling slushies and cooking up a storm at Rod and Rifle.
Tickets to the production tonight, June 25, cost $5.
The Wizard of Oz starts at 6.30pm at Katherine South Primary School.
