Show officer Patricia Glackin said: "This year Big Bang Education will form part of our entertainment line-up. They will be running a number of 60-minute science shows and hands-on activities.
"We thought it might be fun and engaging to get the schools to enter some science investigations they have undertaken recently. Big Bang Education reps will review the submissions and pick a winning investigation, there will be a small prize for the winning school.
Investigations will be on display in the Kids Entertainment Zone.
Another first for the Katherine Show is Cows for Schools.
