Winds may spring up in the afternoon to trouble some of the fashionable among the almost 3000 people expected at the Katherine Cup races on Saturday.
The Bureau of Meteorology is tipping a typical beautiful dry season day with a maximum of 35 degrees for race day.
But people may have to secure their fashion wear with winds of 15-20kmh predicted for during the day.
Many people from across the NT, indeed from around Australia, head to Katherine for the annual races, bill as the social event for the year.
Racegoers are reminded you may bring your own food to the races but to keep in mind it is a Licenced Venue and no alcohol is permitted to be brought in or taken out.

Tickets can still be purchased online for $15.00 or pay $20 at the gate.
There will be a full racing program, acceptances close midweek, including the running of Katherine Cup, fashions on the field, novelty events, and plenty of food and drink.
Dance and party late into the night with local entertainment.
