A boom in the creative industry has largely been focused on capital cities, leaving those further afield seeking a foot in the door in a void.
"We know that the best way to help regional towns is to visit and spend money there, and we also know that the regional areas are often overlooked when it comes to festivals and experiences," Jason McLean, director of consumer imaging for Canon Australia said.
"We're excited to be rolling out the Regional Photography Festival in 2019.
"Whether you're a school student, a teacher or you're just looking to have fun with photography, we've something for everyone."
Canon Australia has announced the third of its 2019 regional festivals by the Canon Collective photography experience team, with 31 events running from Saturday August 24 - Sunday September 1, and will be visiting Katherine.
The Canon Collective will be touring regional Australia throughout 2019 to make sure regional communities have the same opportunities to learn, be inspired and have fun with photography as their larger counterparts.
With dozens of events set to capture the beauty of the local environment, it is anticipated the images generated from the festival will encourage tourism and much-needed economic activity in the regions.
The Canon team will be on hand at the Civic Centre on Wednesday, August 28 from 9am - 4pm to assist with any questions photography or product related.
