The free invitation for a drug bust came in Alice Springs on Sunday.

A 30-year-old driver failed to stop after a crash, leading police to his house where police allegedly found a hydroponic set up growing cannabis.

Around 4.30pm on Sunday, the man was speeding while travelling south on a local street when he crashed into a vehicle stopped at a set of traffic lights near the fire station.

The vehicle which was struck was shunted to into the right hand lane and its two occupants received minor injuries.

The man failed to stop, instead returning to his residence where police later arrested him.

Detectives conducted a search warrant of the man's residence in The Gap where it is alleged they located a hydroponic set up in a bedroom growing 18 cannabis plants.

Another cannabis plant was located in the back yard.

The man was arrested and transported to the Alice Springs Watch House where he was later charged with;

The man is scheduled to appear before the Alice Springs Local Court.
