Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service have sent several relief crews from Darwin to Katherine to assist with the containment and control of multiple fires in the Katherine region.
Winds have been gusting up to 50kmh in Katherine today.
Four extra Fire Units have been deployed from Darwin, one firefighting tanker and three grass fire units, which arrived in Katherine earlier this morning to assist NTFRS and Bushfire NT crews who have responded to fires both north and south of Katherine since yesterday.
The fire northwest of Katherine, in the vicinity of Stuart Estate Zimin Drive, is now contained.
It continues to be monitored and requires some blacking-out.
Fire crews are continuing efforts to contain the fire east of Katherine in the vicinity of the Research Farm.
The Australian Defence Force has provided a tanker and crew on standby basis from the RAAF Base Tindal to assist.
Drivers in the area are urged to slow down, turn on headlights and drive safely for the conditions. Obey any directions of all fire crews attending the fire ground.
