Katherine has begun its annual slow-down as the build-up looms and scorching temperatures set in.
Sporting teams have claimed victories in their grand finals and the packed dry season weekends are starting to dwindle.
"There are just five nights left for people to come down to this little gem we have in Katherine that not many people even know about," The Big Fig manager Jens Ambjerg-Pedersen said.
"It has been a really busy season and to finish it off with Tom Curtain playing is something not to be missed."
Now a multi-awarded singer songwriter known right across Australia for his heartfelt songs with strong messages of strength, it was in fact the Big Fig Bistro where Tom Curtain started out all those years ago.
While he has built a national audience and inspired thousands to stand up against bullying with his song Speak Up, he remains an icon in the Katherine community, often visiting schools and playing at events.
His latest song We're Still Here was penned while touring through drought-stricken Queensland earlier this year.
On his way back to the Northern Territory, he saw the devastating aftermath of the 2019 flood where death and destruction lay in the now lush Queensland pastures.
"It was heart breaking to see how the floods had decimated the land, the animals and affected the communities," he said at the time of release.
A salute to rural Australia and the uncanny ability of communities to pull together the song is about rebuilding and moving forward despite ongoing challenges, natural disasters and isolation.
"I was very passionate about it and felt I had to get the message out there - these farmers and communities are facing all these hardships including droughts, floods and fires, and it is so soul destroying, but they are supporting each other and bouncing back, one foot in front of the other."
Tom Curtain will be performing this Sunday at the Big Fig Bistro's last official night of the season, starting at 6pm.
