Jenny Duggan, a finalist, was nominated after dedicating more than 25 years to picking up trash on her morning bush walks.
Single handedly, she has saved tonnes and tonnes of rubbish from ending up in oceans and rivers.
For longer than most can remember, Mrs Duggan could be seen walking the riverside trail at 6am between the High Level Bridge and the Katherine Hospital, recyclable bags for trash in hand.
The Individual Landcare Award, announced at a dinner in Darwin on September 26, was awarded to Pauline Cass "for her deep commitment to many groups and organisations and passionate advocacy for environmental protection spanning over three decades".
