The refrigerated water bubbler was high on the wish list of Year 1 and 2 students from Clyde Fenton Primary School who spoke at a council forum last month.
Some of the reasons the children requested a water bubbler were:
- . To relieve thirsty children who play at the Adventure Park,
- . To make it easier for little hands, as turning on a tap can be difficult,
- . The bubbler will not wet their feet, shoes or socks as a tap does when they are attempting
- to get a drink,
- . Katherine is a very hot environment and it is very important to drink water,
- . Kids would not need to carry a water bottle, which could inadvertently be left at the Park,
- and
- . It is environmentally sound as no plastic cups or bottles are needed.
Officers sought a quotation (attached) from Katherine Refrigeration for the installation of a suitable water bubbler, similar to the bubblers Council have installed along its walking tracks.
An additional specification was for it to have the added advantage of cooled water delivered via the in-built refrigeration unit.
Council's meeting is Tuesday night.
