Katherine Police stopped a vehicle travelling slowly on the wrong side of the Stuart Highway about 170km north of Katherine today.

During the stop, police observed a rifle on the rear seat of the vehicle.
A further observation resulted in police locating a .357 magnum revolver, a Colt Circuit Judge 45 calibre revolver, a quantity of methamphetamine and equipment used to administer drugs.
A 27-year-old Girraween man and a 30-year-old Acacia Hills man have been arrested and are currently at the Katherine Police Station where they will be interviewed today.
At this time, it is expected that the 27-year-old man will be charged with:
- Drive With Prohibited Drug In Body
- Possess Schedule 1 Drug - Traffickable Quantity
- Possess Prohibited Firearm
- 2x Possess Firearm Without Licence
- 2x Possess Ammunition Without Licence
- 2x Fail To Meet Storage Requirements
- Modify Firearm
- Alter Firearm
- Alteration Of Identification Marks
- Possess Under The Influence Of Drugs
It is expected that the 30-year-old male will be charged with:
- Possess Schedule 1 Drug - Traffickable Quantity
- Possess Prohibited Firearm
- Possess Firearm Without Licence
- Possess Ammunition Without Licence
- 2x Fail To Meet Storage Requirements
- Modify Firearm
- Alter Firearm
- Alteration Of Identification Marks
- Discharge Or Firearms On Roads
- Possess Under The Influence Of Drugs
Northern Territory Police have also arrested a 31-year-old man after police located illicit items in his vehicle.
An off-duty police officer observed the man driving a vehicle in an erratic matter on the Stuart Highway near Adelaide River around 10.30am yesterday.

The vehicle was later observed speeding by on duty members approximately 30 kilometres north of Katherine around noon the same day.
Police apprehended the vehicle and conducted a drug saliva test which returned a positive result for methamphetamine.
Drug Detector Dog Hugo was deployed and provided a conditioned response to the man and his vehicle. A subsequent search found approximately 14 grams of cannabis in the man's underwear.
Police located and seized the following from the man's vehicle:
- A machete style knife
- 2 x clip seal bags of cannabis
- 1 x clip seal bag containing 1 gram of methamphetamine
- A glass ice pipe
- 2 x tomahawk axes
- A packet of un-used clip seal deal bags
The man was arrested and conveyed to the Katherine Watch House where he participated in another drug analysis and returned a positive result for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
He was charged with:
- Drive with Prohibited Drug in Body
- Exceed Speed 0 - 15km hr Over
- Possess Schedule 2 Dangerous Drug - Public Place
- Possess Schedule 1 Dangerous Drug - Public Place
- Possess Thing - Administer Dangerous Drug
- Possess Controlled Weapon
He was also charged with drive with prohibited blood in drug in relation to a motor vehicle crash at Pine Creek on June 16..
He is due to appear in Darwin Local Court on October 31.
