It started from a love of woodwork, and frame making, but has since grown into a remarkable collection of art.
The Farndens have owned and operated Katherine art gallery Gallop Thru Time since 1994, and over the years have forged relationships with artists from across the Northern Territory and amassed a collection to be rivaled.
Artists including Lorna Napurulla Fencer, Paddy Fordham Wainburranga, Gertie Huddleston, Judy Watson Napangardi and Emily Kame Kngwarreye will be on display.
Director of the Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre Poppy Searle said the exhibition 'Collecting Thru Time' is a visual treat highlighting Cathy and Peter's love of Indigenous art and vibrant colour.
"We hope that seeing this collection will inspire other Katherine residents to develop their own collections celebrating the rich and diverse artistic practice of this region," Godinymayin director said.
"We are extremely grateful to the Farndens for their generosity in making their collection available for the community to enjoy."
Thursday October 31 marks the official opening of the exhibition at the Katherine Cultural Centre starting at 6pm and running until Saturday December 14.
