Although details about the incident are brief, police said the young boy died after collapsing at a property in an Arnhem Land community.

There was no further information provided about the possible cause of the location of the boy's death.

Police said a report would be prepared for the NT Coroner.

Meanwhile, Police have located a 3.8 metre aluminium vessel which has spent the night stranded in the Adelaide River.

Shortly after 5.30pm on Sunday , Water Police members were alerted to a report of a 3.8 metre aluminium vessel which had run out of fuel near the mouth of the Adelaide River with three men on board. The vessel is believed to have departed from Saltwater Arm boat ramp at about 2 that afternoon.

A police vessel was dispatched to undertake a search of the area however was unable to locate the vessel. The search was suspended due to poor lighting.

At first light today, two police vessels were dispatched along with a police aircraft in search of the missing vessel. The vessel was located in the Adelaide River approximately 12kms upstream of the mouth.

All persons on board are reported as being well and the vessel is currently under tow back to the boat ramp.

Sergeant Andrew Hocking from the Water Police Section said, "It's vitally important that when you set out for a day on the water that you carry sufficient fuel to ensure that you come home safely, and make sure friends or family know where you intend to go."

"It's also a timely reminder to ensure that your safety equipment in your vessel is serviceable. You should have some means to navigate in areas you may not be familiar with and also have some form of communication other than your phone." he said
