Kintore Street School is set to reach an important milestone at the end of 2019 with three members of the senior class graduating from year 12 and the fourth completing year 11.
The year 12 graduates are Connor McBean, Patrick Wing and Michael Miller. Harmond Yates will complete year 11 this year, and start year 12 in 2020.
Michael Miller and Patrick Wing are on track to complete their NTCET (Modified) this year. To complete their NTCET Michael and Patrick have undertaken a set course of study over years 10, 11 and 12.
Principal Marg Chamberlain said the studies included Careers and Work Experience, Vocational Education and Training (VET), maths, English, community studies, art, health, science, and Studies of Society and the Environment.
"The program includes a week-long excursion to Darwin each year to study aspects of society and environment and to further develop social skills and awareness," she said.
"In the careers program, the four students have undertaken weekly work experience at venues ranging from Katherine Hospital, Toyworld, Taggerty Kennels, Rod and Rifle Tackle World, Katherine Regional Arts, Katherine Public Library, the Katherine Museum, Equalitea and Na Wulg Wulg.
"In VET, Patrick and Michael have achieved a Certificate I in Business. Michael, Patrick and Connor have also participated in a Certificate I Baking course and Harmond has participated in a Certificate I in Automotive Vocational Preparation.

"As a part of their NTCET (Modified) Patrick, Harmond and Michael have been involved in excursions into the community, and contributed to local events."
All the students entered into the Duke of Edinburgh program, a youth development project that empowers Australians aged 14 to 24 to explore their full potential and find their purpose, passion and place in the world.
To win an award they each had to learn a skill, improve physical wellbeing, volunteer in the community, and experience a team adventure in a new environment.
