The Under 18s came from behind to record a narrow win over Nightcliff on Saturday.

Going into the last quarter at Nitmiluk Oval, the boys were a kick behind but defended well and fell across the line a few points in front.

From there it was catch up for the rest of the match and at the main break, it did not appear the Hawks had any chance.
But 24 points in arrears, the boys defended strongly and their pace around the ground was telling in the trying conditions.
It was the three goals to none in the third quarter which set up the thrilling final stanza.

In the Under 18s girls, Big Rivers Hawks were outclassed by Waratahs who had made the trip down the Stuart Highway.

In the first run for our new women's team on home soil, the Big River Hawks found it hard going against Southern Districts. Southern Districts had all the firepower up forward and made the outing a tough one for the local team.

To celebrate the first home game of the season players wore an indigenous designed guernsey that Lucas George from Beswick and his family prepared for the club.
It was a sweltering day for any form of sport, and it was a test of fitness and preparation by their clubs to run the games out. The local teams return to local competition on December 7.
