Almost 80 litres of alcohol have been seized by Northern Territory Police allegedly being smuggled into the remote community of Wadeye, where alcohol consumption is restricted.

In separate incidents over the weekend, four men and a woman were allegedly found to have been carrying bottles of alcohol as well as drugs, and have since been arrested.
Detectives targeting drink and drug driving, just over 250 kilometres from Katherine on Daly River Road, were conducting traffic operations.
Four males aged; 20, 31, 32, and 35, and a 22-year-old female were each stopped separately and subjected to a road side breath tests, each returning a positive result ranging from .05 to .26.
"It is disappointing that people continue to drink and drive placing themselves, family, friends and the wider community at risk of serious injury or death," Acting Commander Hege Burns said
"Bringing alcohol and drugs into our communities is not welcomed.
"Substance abuse affects everyone, so any seizure, large or small, helps us keep a safer community."
Members located and seized a total of 365 grams of cannabis and 76 litres of alcohol.
The five people have been charged and will have to face a judge at a later date.
The 35-year-old male was remanded in custody and faces additional charges of breaching a domestic violence order.
There are more than 100 places in the NT where alcohol is totally banned under the law, but in the case of Lajamanu, Maningrida, Wadeye, Barunga and Yirrkala, alcohol can be consumed at a permit holders' home.
Just last month, alcohol was allegedly discovered inside a taxi travelling to a dry Katherine community, members of the Alcohol Policing Unit conducted random alcohol screening operations.
In a statement issues by Northern Territory Police, Superintendent Brendan Muldoon from the Alcohol Policing Unit said alcohol is a driver of a significant amount of crime and harm in the Northern Territory.
"Police are committed to identifying those people who seek to profit from the secondary supply of alcohol," he said.
