But the biggest of them was Dum-In-Mirrie Island near Dundee Beach which recorded a mighty 562mm in the past 24 hours.
Many falls in the Katherine area were above 40mm from the rain.
Unfortunately the swirling bands of rain failed to penetrate much further south into the parched Barkly.
The tropical low has now moved offshore to the west southwest of Darwin.
It is expected to gradually develop into a tropical cyclone as it moves over open waters off the north Kimberley coast during today or early tomorrow.
