Next month, the Travelling Film Festival, a regional tour of Sydney Film Festival, is putting eight celebrated titles on the big screen over three days.
Festival winners and audience favourites, from the Sydney Film Festival and around the world include Birds of Passage an Oscars nominated Best Foreign Film, and God Exists, Her Name is Petrunya a Berlin Film Festival winner.
The festival kicks off on Friday, February 7 at 6pm with Australian film Hearts and Bones. Selected for the Sydney Film Festival and directed by Australian filmmaker Ben Lawrence, the film tells the story of war photographer Daniel Fisher who returns home to Sydney, and despite his partner's protests, prepares for yet another hazardous overseas assignment.
At the same time he is organising an exhibition of his work from the world's war zones, south Sudanese refugee, Sebastian, living happily in Australia with his wife and young child, learns the exhibition will include images of a massacre in his village 15 years earlier.
The festival will also take audiences to The Biggest Little Farm, "a genuine crowd-pleaser that follows filmmaker John Chester, his wife and dog as they chase their dream to set up a sustainable farm, with plenty of enthusiasm but zero experience".
TFF currently tours to 18 locations annually, screening in the Northern Territory, Queensland and New South Wales.
