The $310,000 Bicentennial Road lights are not functioning correctly which is causing a lot of confusion to turning traffic.
A single technician is in the scene trying to fix the problem which may last for some time yet.
The red turning arrow, allowing traffic to turn off Stuart Highway into Bicentennial Road is not operating.
As a consequence, traffic is piling up behind the arrow until vehicles cut back onto the highway and do a U-turn further along.
Several vehicles are even choosing the riskier option of ignoring the red signal to drive across the highway while oncoming vehicles have a green light.
