That was how the Bureau of Meteorology today described a weather system which has "saved" a very poor wet season for some areas of the NT.
Esther is currently making her second trip across the NT, bringing less wind but plenty of welcome rain to areas south of Elliott, with a further 22mm so far for Tennant Creek.
Esther made landfall as a category 1 system near the NT/Queensland border on February 24.
Currently near Lajamanu, the system should leave the NT tomorrow as it continues its south east track through south west Queensland and eventually into New South Wales.
Here is where Esther's rain has fallen in the past week.
Rain is forecast for most of the Territory today, contracting tomorrow to areas in the Top End and through the east - in the Carpentaria, Barkly and Simpson districts - before easing from Thursday.
Alice Springs is set for more rain today following 25mm last night, significantly more than the 4.2mm recorded for the month of February.
Alice Springs is also experiencing a cool change, with temperatures ranging between the high teens and low 20s today and tomorrow before reaching max temps of 30C again from Friday.
Darwin and the Top End, including Katherine, can expect isolated showers and thunderstorms this week.
Overall, February marked another month of very warm nights and warm days for the Territory.

With two months to go in the wet season, rainfall at Darwin Airport is about two thirds of the long-term average.
In total 783.8mm of rain was recorded this wet season from October to February, which is 62 per cent of the 1265mm needed to reach the long-term average.
Almost everywhere in Northern Territory had an above average mean minimum temperature in February, with the northern half having temperatures in the highest 10% of all records.
