Not all of it has been flattering.
Now they can have an official say as well.
A planning application has been made for the proposed restaurant/cafe at the rear of the Town Square.
Katherine Times has already been told there are some businesses concerned about taxpayer-funded opposition to their own operations.
The restaurant has been costed at $200,000.
The park's upgrade is the latest tweak for the CBD upgrade, funding back in 2018 by the NT Government.
Planning documents submitted by Ashford Group Architects say it has been commissioned by the council to create "a walkable, safe, engaging and functional city".
"The proposal forms part of the $5 million Katherine CBD Revitalisation Project," planning documents state.
Of that $5m grant, a total of $1.5m has already been diverted to finish the Hot Springs upgrade, and a hefty chunk has gone already to consultants so about $3m is left in the kitty, the Katherine Times believes.
"Specifically, works include a shipping container kiosk, street furniture, safety lighting, a recreational stage area, a shade structure, landscaping and a public ablution block and bike shelter."
Most of the proposed upgrades are exempt from planning consent but an application was required for the proposed "restaurant".

This restaurant would be contained within two demountable structures with alfresco dining.
The proposed "restaurant" will be located in a 20-foot shipping container with the storeroom component located in a 10-foot shipping container directly adjacent.
Alfresco dining will be located directly in front of the structures.
Planning documents state the restaurant would "create a lively and interesting environment" in the area.
"The proposed shipping container 'restaurant' is consistent with the design and finishes of the associated shade structure, sculpture, street furniture and amenities block all provided as part of the Katherine CBD Revitalisation Project. The colours and materials are consistent with surrounding contemporary tropical development.
"Approximately 20 new plaza trees and 3 new street trees will be planted on site to increase the shade and amenity of the park. The landscaping works will be integrated with the proposed development and form part of the larger Katherine CBD Revitalisation Project."
Documents also state: "The 'restaurant' has been designed with openings to encourage breeze flow through the building as air conditioning is impractical."
The public has until March 25 to comment on the proposed restaurant.
