A police detection dog has allegedly uncovered a big stash of drugs hidden in the back of a ute near Mataranka yesterday.

Police have charged a 35-year-old man with drug offences after his vehicle was searched on the Stuart Highway near Mataranka.
The value of the haul was estimated at $360,000.
Police say the man was driving a green Toyota Hilux when he was stopped about 2pm yesterday.
They allege he was found with 32 kilograms of cannabis hidden in his vehicle.
"Police detection dog Astra was deployed and responded to two large metal tool boxes in the rear tray of the vehicle," a police spokeswoman said.
"Police conducted a search of the vehicle and located multiple packages of cannabis."
After the drugs were allegedly found the man was arrested and taken to the Katherine Police Station.
Police then searched the vehicle more thoroughly when the allege they found "another concealment of cannabis between metal tool boxes".
In all, police claim to have seized 32 kilograms of cannabis along with the vehicle.
The 35-year-old was charged with:
- supply schedule 2 dangerous drug - commercial quantity
- possess schedule 2 dangerous drug - commercial quantity
