Council met on Monday to discuss further support for business, the local economy and the community during this difficult and unprecedented period.
With a more detailed announcement to be made at a later date, council has agreed to the immediate suspension of all interest on outstanding rates balance and cessation of any rates related legal action up to June 30, 2020 at which time the direction will be again reviewed.
With a number of major infrastructure projects nearing build stage, council will ensure these projects are given the highest priority to ensure our local trades are supported through this time.
Council is also reviewing its current tender assessment weightings in order to ensure this much needed economic stimulus supports our business community.
The spokeswoman said council would be "exploring ways to redirect staff into essential business support for our community".
