NT Chief Minister Michael Gunner's latest change announced yesterday of visitors being placed under supervised quarantine from Wednesday failed to appease residents outraged to find grey nomads still moving through the town.
"I want to know why they are waiting until Wednesday? Personally I think we should have truly closed our borders three weeks ago and put every single person into forced quarantine! Including returning NT residents," one comment to the Katherine Times' Facebook page read..
Readers have asked for more clarity about caravans transiting onto other areas.
"Not sure why caravans are still being let in...lots of them pulling up in Katherine. Need to protect our vulnerable population here!" another user said.
With many such caravans observed parked in public areas and by the roadside, queries were also raised about whether tourists are being properly monitored.
"Will some form of authority be visiting these road side stops & enforcing the self isolation at a suitable location? If not we are all at an even greater risk as they come & go as they please around our town," another reader said.
"Police need to move them along," said another.

Local readers are frustated about the "leaky" border roadblocks.
"Please explain to me and the rest of the NT what the word CLOSED means. Because it obviously doesn't mean what I thought it did," a user said.
I thought our borders were closed to tourists? I thought only essential services were allowed through?" another comment continued, demonstrating the ongoing confusion reigning in Katherine at this point.
The Katherine Times has requested comment from the NT government on these issues and more.
More to come.
