Some are even plotting a potential super-league finals between teams still unable to reach one another because of bio-security restrictions.
"We were really worried we weren't even going to get to play any footy this year so everyone's very excited and there could even be some good to come of it," Katherine Camels committee member Tom Watkins said.

"There's even been talk of a super-league type format where teams in bio-security zones or in the smaller teams around Larrimah and the Roper Gulf region have their own comps and then when things open up the best team from each area could play off here in town.
"Whatever does happen though we're just keen to get back on the field, the message group for our club has just been constant with people looking for updates but as it stands right now we will be back soon.
"It has been hard on the club, when local businesses suffer so do the sporting clubs because we don't get any money from council or anything and we've lost thousands of dollars in sponsorship, but this is a great step for us as a club and we're all positive," he said.
AFLNT have remained coy about specific dates and details for a return as they put together their own road-map back in consultation with teams.
"Everyone wants to just get back to playing footy, but on our end there is still a lot of work to go through to get ready and we'll make announcements once we've gone through that process," Manger of Community Football Emily Wastle-Hopkins said.
Local sources, however, all agree the aim will be start training on the May 15 and play after June 5 for a season featuring at least one game against each team before finals.
These were the dates provided by the NT Government this week as it announced its rollout of the "new normal" after success in suppressing COVID-19's spread in the Territory.
Eastside Blues captain Cameron Cossack says the club is ready to go.
"Everyone here loves footy and we're just really keen to get back to not only play but to catch up and see one another," he said.
"I think everyone around town is pretty happy right now to be getting back to normal.
"Even just to get back out and train will be great for everybody," Cameron said.
