Katherine will still have a public holiday on Friday, July 17 despite cancellation of the show.
The Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture cleared up confusion about the day off after residents took to Facebook to air their confusion.
"The regional show dates are gazetted in advance as Public Holidays," a spokeswoman said.
"Each region can still observe their show day public holiday even though their show has been cancelled," she said.
June 17 in particular only applies to Katherine and the surrounding region.
The Katherine Show has been cancelled this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, but will maintain its momentum with 'virtual' show categories engaging the town.
