"Thank you so much to Greg Harmer for the vision to see potential in the Katherine cinema," the society said.
"Again, thank you to the owner, Tony Adams, for leasing the cinema to Greg and keeping the cinema for cinema. I would also like to thank all those KFS members who came along to help Greg clean the cinema up for its reopening. Well done."
The society's first screening on its return is the clever film Jojo Rabbit.
Written and directed by New Zealand comic, Taika Waititi, Jojo Rabbit is based on Christine Leunens' 2008 book Caging Skies.
The film was panned by some for lampooning the Nazis, but most critics applauded the movie's many positives and it was nominated for six Academy Awards in 2019.
For a clever bit of cinematic language and subconscious storytelling, watch the shoes.
See you all Thursday night. You can re-join the Katherine Film Society, enjoy a glass and chat before sitting back for the movie.
If all goes to plan, KFS hopes to get 12 movies in this year, half our normal program. Let us know if there is a title you think would suit the society.
Remember, social distancing and personal hygiene is keeping us all safe.
Jojo Rabbit will screen on July 16, from 6.30pm.
