Police arrested the 70-year-old man on charges of recklessly endangering the life of a 73-year-old man in Katherine yesterday.

Police were told of the alleged assault last night after the older man was taken to Katherine Hospital with serious injuries.

The report was made at 11.30 last night.

Police were told the 73-year-old had been allegedly assaulted earlier that same night.

Detectives from Northern Investigation Section and general duty members conducted investigations resulting in the arrest of the 70-year-old man.

He was taken to the Katherine Watch House where he remains in police custody.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
