Katherine Rotary Club was visited by the Rotary Governor of our District at its August meeting which takes in half of the NT, parts of North Queensland and Timore Leste.
Merewyn Wright and her husband Stan gave us the fantastic news that Rotary International has achieved one of its greatest aims - to eradicate polio from Africa.
She explained that this awful illness that used to be so common less than 50 years ago is now only found in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and we as Rotarians will continue to try and eradicate it.
We welcome our third member of the month into the ranks of the Rotary Club of Katherine.

Raima Baker has lived in Katherine for quite some time and currently works with the court system.
She has been a nurse in New Zealand, Australia and the Middle East.
Raima is also a mentor in the Katherine Rotary Computer Club. Raima is looking forward to helping Rotary help others.
